Beneath the lights on a cool September evening at Dominico Field at Christie Pits, the A’s shutout the Expos 5-0 in 5½ innings to win the 2013 Toronto Playgrounds House League Baseball Bantam Division Championship Game.

It was an entertaining battle between two talented and well coached teams, where both the A’s and the Expos gave it their all from the opening pitch to the final out.

Playing a solid all around game, the Athletics used their stellar pitching and defense to stymie the potent Expos offense throughout the proceedings. Meanwhile, the A’s offense capitalized on the opportunities that presented itself to score the necessary runs to prevail over a pesky Expos team.

Here are some highlights:

  • A’s pitcher Micah (10) tossed two stellar shutout innings against the Expos. Micah also delivered a key hit to bring in the A’s first run of the game.
  • Keegan (2) of the A’s turned in a solid game at shortstop as he made some key defensive plays. Keegan also threw two shutout innings.
  • Keegan hooked up with Tyler (6) to turn a nice double play to douse an Expos offensive threat.

The TP Baseball Committee wishes to commend Expos coaches Jacque Friedland, Mike Lapenna, and all the Expos players on a great season.

The Committee wishes to congratulate A’s Head Coach Casey Irwin for guiding this talented group of A’s players to such great heights of achievement in 2013. Way to go, A’s!
