The Toronto Playgrounds Baseball Committee is continuing to accept registrations for the upcoming 2014 House League baseball season.

With only 70 days to go before Opening Day, a number of our age available categories are beginning to fill up. Due to the overwhelming popularity of our respective house league baseball offerings, the Committee strongly urges all interested parents and players to register early to guarantee a placement in our program. ALL roster spots in our six age groups will be filled on a first come, first serve basis. Once all the available roster openings have been filled in a designated age category, any additional registrants will be put on a sequential waiting list in the event an opening becomes available.

Here are the 2014 House League Fees for each age category:

  • TEE BALL (2007-2010) > $120.00
  • ROOKIE BALL (2005-2006) > $120.00
  • MOSQUITO (2003-2004) > $145.00
  • PEEWEE (2001-2002) > $145.00
  • BANTAM (1999-2000) > $145.00
  • MIDGET (1996-1998) > $145.00

In addition. the Committee is currently finalizing a relationship with the Canadian Tire Jumpstart, which is a program that provides financial support to families so that children can participate in organized sports activities. We’re going to send the information out as soon as we can so that interested families can contact the program.

There is also a change to this year’s form regarding registering in our Tee Ball and Rookie Ball Programs.

Last year after sending out the registration forms we set up two four team divisions in rookie ball, with one division playing on Mondays (and practicing every second Wednesday) and the other division playing on Wednesdays (and practicing every second Monday). We’re going to have the two divisions again this year, but we’re asking parents to indicate on the form which of the divisions they prefer. If you have a strong preference for one night but could also play the other night please rank them as 1 and 2. If you can only play one of the two nights rank that one as 1 and put an X in the other spot. If either night will work equally well for you (and it will be great to have some people in that position), please put a check mark on both days.

This year we are planning on doing the same type of arrangement in our Tee Ball program, except that there will be three four-team divisions…one playing Tuesday, one on Thursday, and one on Friday. This way Tee Ball families can also have a standard game night as is the case in our other divisions. We’re asking parents to indicate on the form which of the divisions they prefer. If you have a strong preference for one night but could also play the other nights please rank them as 1, 2 and 3. If you can only play one of the two nights rank that one as 1 and put an X in the other spots. If any of the nights will work equally well for you (and it will be great to have some people in that position), please put a check mark on all three days.

In both the Tee Ball and Rookie Ball divisions the spaces in the divisions will be assigned on a first-come first-served basis. There are obviously only a certain number of spots available in each division.

Parents and Players are also advised that the house league registration fee covers the cost of a trophy, picture (individual & team) and a uniform (cap, jersey and pants).
