Beneath a curtain of breezy and cloudy skies, our Toronto Playgrounds Major Peewee Selects shutout the York Blue Jays 17-0 in four dominating innings of Etobicoke Baseball Association (EBA) action this evening at Christie Pits Diamond 2.

Firing on all cylinders, TP dominated the proceedings from start to finish. Four Major Peewee Select pitchers combined to no hit York while striking out nine Blue Jays. In fact, the Blue Birds only reached base on two occasions (on a first inning error and a walk in the fourth).

Meanwhile, the Toronto Playgrounds offense made hay of eleven walks and twelve hits issued by York to take control of the game and cruise to their fourth EBA Select regular season victory.

With a little help from his friends, TP starter Arlo (7) set down the Blue Jays in 1-2-3 order in the top of the first.

The Major Peewees turned in a pretty 3-4 putout during the inning when first baseman Jack H. (27) combined with second baseman Max (17) on a facial erasure of Daniel (2) of York who was attempting to steal second.

In the bottom of the first, Toronto Playgrounds sent a conga line of eleven batters to the dish to take an early 5-0 lead. TP made hay of four walks and four hits to seize the advantage.

After a leadoff double by Zack (32), Jack H. delivered a one out RBI single to bring Zack home with the first run of the game. Subsequently, Jack H. would come home to roost on a York fielding error.

With two outs and the bases loaded, Jack K. (13) would patiently draw a RBI walk to plate Arlo. Jacob (2) would follow with a RBI single to score Adam (18) and put TP up 4-0. Owen (5) would garner a RBI walk to bring in Max.

With authority, TP reliever Tyler (42) would mow down three Blue Jays in order in the top of the second to keep them off the scoreboard.

TP kept the pedal to the metal in the bottom of the second as they sent nine to the plate to score four and widen their lead to 9-0. The Major Peewees cashed in on four walks and two key hits issued by York.

After Zack and Tyler drew back to back walks to lead off the frame, Zack would saunter home after a balk by the York pitcher. Jack H. would follow with a RBI sacrifice hit to bring home Tyler and put TP into a 7-0 lead.

With two outs and two TP runners on base, Max and Jack K. would deliver respective RBI singles to bring Sasha (28) and Adam (18) homeward.

In the top of the third, TP reliever Owen (5) would fan a pair of Blue Jays to keep York off the scoring abacus.
