Beneath a layer of warm and hazy skies, the Dodgers defeated the Reds 12-5 in four innings of Mosquito Division action this evening at Christie Pits Diamond 3.
Here are the highlights:
- The play of the game came on the last out. With two outs and two Reds runners on bases, Alex (12) hit a deep fly ball that was sure to be a bases clearing three-bagger, only to have Dodgers right fielder Mary (14) make a spectacular Gold Glove catch to extinguish the threat. Mary was mobbed by her jubilant teammates in the field.
- The Dodgers offense recorded nine hits.
- Avi (8) was 2 for 2 at the plate with 2 RBIs!
- Harris (12) was also 2 for 2 at the dish with a bases clearing double in the fourth.
- Devin (6) and Mary collected base hits
- PJ (2) reached base twice with a base on balls and his first career TP hit in the fourth!!
- Pitching for the Dodgers were Charlie (5) [two innings], Devin and Harris.
- Catching for the Artful Dodgers were Devin, Charlie and Taras (15) [two innings].
- Charlie and Cooper (7) connected on a timely throw to third base to thwart a Reds stealing attempt in the second inning.
- Alexander (1) made his Reds pitching debut with a strong inning where he allowed two runs while ringing up two batters.
- Yona (5) had a strong game at second base for the Reds, making a beautiful out at second.
- Reds pitcher Matthew (4) and second baseman Alex (12) pulled off a beautiful pick-off move at second base.
- Nigel (8) of the Reds had a defensive strong game at third and first base, and scored a run on a walk and three stolen bases.
- Ibrahim (7) also contributed by hitting a beautiful double down the right field line for the Big Red Machine.
