Under a ceiling of hazy and sunny skies, the Rockies edged the Mets 5-4 in four innings this evening at Bickford Park to win their Peewee Division season opener.

With the game knotted 4-4 and a baserunner at third, Thomas (9) of the Rockies delivered a clutch two out RBI single in the bottom of the fourth that allowed Adi (1) to motor home from third with the winning run.

Griff (11) powered the Rockies offense by going 2 for 2 [single, double] at the plate with a run scored and 3 RBI's.

In a well played affair, where the respective bullpens of both teams dominated most of the proceedings, runs came at a huge premium.

Rockies starter Teddy (12) struck out two in the top of the first to keep the Mets off the scoreboard.

In the bottom of the first, the Rockies jumped out to an early 1-0 lead. With a runner on base, Griff (11) stroked a RBI single that allowed leadoff batter Thomas to mosey homeward with the first run of the game.

Finding his mojo, Mets starter Niall (3) struck out one to quell the Rockies insurgency.

After allowing a one out double, Rockies reliever Isaac (13) struck out a pair of Mets in the top of the second to keep them off the scoring abacus.

With a pair of menacing Rockies on base in the bottom of the second, Mets reliever Rory (4) mowed down three Rockies with a John Deere X300 to keep them off the scoring ledger.

Like the bright lights illuminating the Manhattan skyline, the Mets offense surged to life in electrifying fashion in the top of the third as they scored four to take a 4-1 lead.

Exercising patience at the dish, Michael (5) and Spencer (8) drew a pair of walks to lead off the frame. Rory followed and hit a RBI single that allowed Michael to blaze home to tie the proceedings. A subsequent Rockies error would allow Spencer to scoot home and give the Mets the lead.

Hayden (2) powered the Mets offense by going 2 for 2 [two doubles] at the dish with 2 RBI's.

After a single by Niall put two ducks on the pond, Hayden (2) delivered a powerful 2 RBI double to the deep dish pizza nether regions of the outfield that cleared the bases and gave the Mets a three run lead.

However, the Rockies answered back with rocky mountain high authority in the bottom of the third as they scored three to even the proceedings.

After Thomas singled and Leandro (5) walked to open the inning and put two runners on base, Griff stroked a majestic 2 RBI double that cleared the bases and pull the Rockies to within one.

With one out, Teddy delivered a RBI sacrifice hit that allowed Griff to blaze home from third with the tying run.

In the top of the fourth, the Mets threatened to take the lead when they put a pair of runners on base. However, a non slide call at home nullified the go ahead run.

Going for the jugular, Adi (1) of the Rockies led off the bottom of the fourth with a riveting triple to put winning run only seventy-five away.

Taking no prisoners, Mets closer Niall icily mowed down the next two Rockies batters.

And it was at this juncture, with two outs and the go ahead run standing at third, where Thomas calmly stepped into the batter’s box and came face to face with his moment with destiny.
