INDOOR TRYOUTS FOR OUR RESPECTIVE SELECT TEAMS TO BEGIN THIS SATURDAY IN THE GYM AT HARBORD COLLEGIATE INSTITUTE

The Toronto Playgrounds House League Baseball Committee has announced that Select Tryouts for our respective 2016 Toronto Playgrounds Rookie Ball (2007-2008), Mosquito (2005-2006) and Peewee (2003-2004) Select teams will begin on Saturday, January 16, 2016. The times for the various groups are listed below by year of birth.
For players and parents who require more information as to how we operate our Select program, please click on the following link for a description of the TP Select Baseball program .
Each of the Select teams will play one game a week and have one practice (or some weeks two) in addition to their participation in our house league program. Players who make the select teams but who then do not take part in house league will forfeit their spots. In order to take part in our select tryouts, players have to be registered (with fee paid) in our house league program. The 2016 registration form will be posted on the website and sent to everyone on our mailing list prior to the beginning of the Select Team Tryouts. Please bring the completed registration form to the first tryout session.
If you are planning on attending a tryout this Saturday then please don’t send or drop off your completed form at Bob Abate before Saturday…take it to the Harbord Collegiate gym…TP House league personnel will be on hand to collect the forms and fees. People not attending Select tryouts this Saturday can mail their forms to, or drop them off in person at, the Bob Abate Centre whenever they’d like. The Bob Abate Centre is located at 485 Montrose Ave., on the east side of the street just south of Bloor St. across the road from Christie Pits. People interested in trying out for a Select team but unable to make this Saturday’s tryouts can send or drop their forms to the Bob Abate Centre anytime over the next few days.
The TP Select Team tryout times for each age group are as follows:
- 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon > players born in 2003
- 12:00 noon to 1:30 p.m. > players born in 2004
- 1:30 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. > players born in 2007
- 2:15 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. > players born in 2008
- 3:00 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. > players born in 2005
- 3:45 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. > players born in 2006
The respective Select Team tryouts will continue at these times for the remaining Saturdays in January (16th, 23rd, 30th). At that point, the Select coaches will be letting people know which players will be continuing through the tryout process and which players won’t, and at that point the Rookie Ball and Mosquito players remaining for the tryouts will be attending for ninety minutes rather than forty-five.
The Select Team tryouts will take place in the gym at Harbord Collegiate Institute [286 Harbord Street], which is located on the north side of Harbord Street between Euclid Ave. and Manning Ave. To enter the school, people must use Door # 5, which is located at the northeast corner of the school off Euclid Ave. Once you go in that door, please follow the signs to the gym. Parking is available in the underground school lot as well as on the street. Do not park on school property other than the underground lot. The entrance to the lot is off Euclid Ave. just north of door # 5.
