Beneath a canopy of picture perfect blue and sunny skies today at Christie Pits, Toronto Playgrounds House League Baseball hosted its third consecutive Toronto Blue Jays Honda Instructional Clinic.

With over 130 players in attendance, and a huge coterie of parents observing the proceedings at Christie Pits Diamonds 2 and 3, the nearly four hour clinic proceeded with unbridled aplomb as players rotated through several drill stations, shepherded by skilled Jays instructors, that dealt with fundamental baseball skills such as: hitting, throwing, fielding, pitching and baserunning.

The verdict: the Blue Jays Instructional Clinic was a Grand Slam success!

The Blue Jays are keenly aware of the need for local associations (like Toronto Playgrounds House League Baseball) to raise funds to offset some of the rising costs they are experiencing to run their baseball programs. With TP Baseball receiving $25 per registration for hosting the instructional clinic, the Blue Jays wrote out a cheque for $3300 to our organization at the end of the day.

Not only are the Instructional Clinics an excellent fundraising opportunity for TP House League Baseball, these clinics will also compliment our player development program. It was a win win event for everyone involved.

The TP House League Baseball Committee wishes to thank all the participants who took part in the clinic. We would also like to thank the Toronto Blue Jays Baseball Club for allowing us to host this stellar event again.

And a special thanks to TP House League Baseball President Bill Evans for spearheading the organization this spectacular annual fundraising event that brings the entire community together.
