The Toronto Playgrounds House League Baseball Committee has released a revised Mosquito Division (2005-2006) regular season schedule that includes the practice details for each week, and also corrects a typo regarding the schedule for July 28.

MOSQUITO DIVISION REGULAR SEASON SCHEDULE (REVISED)

In the original schedule, we mentioned on the cover letter page that if we weren’t able to find enough diamond space close to Christie Pits for six Mosquito teams to practice each week then we would need to look at some practices taking place on weekends. This is what has ended up happening in this schedule…on most Sunday evenings two Mosquito teams will be practicing at Christie Pits Diamond 3 from 6:30 to 8:00 pm. We went with Sunday evening in an attempt to be as accommodating as possible to our families…if people are going to be out of town over all or part of a weekend then we felt that having a practice on a Sunday evening would be more convenient than on a Saturday or on a Sunday morning.

The way the schedule has worked out is that six of the twelve Mosquito teams will have a Sunday evening practice twice during the season and six teams will have one. All of the other practices will be on Tuesdays.

The alternative to doing Sunday evening practices would have been to hold practices for two teams at a considerable distance from Christie Pits, which would likely have ended up being more inconvenient for our families especially given the travel time needed through the city at that time of day.

The Committee is continuing the process of working with the City of Toronto to get more diamond time for our league going forward, because we don’t feel our numbers will be going down next season.

In terms of the Tuesday practices, if your team has one that lists the location as Christie Pits field/diamond 2 (or 3), then that means that at the time listed (7:30 p.m.) you will meet your coach in the large outfield area at Christie Pits between diamonds 2 and 3. Your team will then practice in the outfield area for 45 minutes and then move onto either diamond 2 or 3 (depending upon what the schedule says) for 45 minutes of infield practice.
