IN A THRILLER, TORONTO PLAYGROUNDS RALLY TO USURP THE GREEN AT SMYTHE PARK AND EARN THEIR FIFTH EBA SELECT VICTORY OF THE SEASON

Beneath a ceiling of cool blue skies, our Toronto Playgrounds Major Peewee Selects edged the York Green 9-8 in five thrilling innings of Etobicoke Baseball Association (EBA) Select action this evening at Smythe Park to win their fifth game of the season and remain undefeated.
Here are the highlights:
- Down 6-1, TP showed fortitude and resilience in the top of the fourth as they batted around and rallied for seven runs to take an 8-6 lead over York.
- With the proceedings tied 8-8, Aaron (54) drove in the go ahead run in the top of the fifth.
- TP holds on in the bottom of the fifth to seal the deal on a 9-8 comeback victory over the Green.
- In a strong effort on the mound, TP pitcher Aaron threw two scoreless innings against the potent York batting order.
- TP pitchers Ben (4) and Jordan (14) put in a solid effort to hold the Green in check.
- Ben made a spectacular catch in the bottom of the fourth to end a bases loaded threat by the Green.
- Jonathan also made a great catch in centre field.
- In the bottom of the first, TP pitcher Jordan and first baseman Nigel (20) combined for a nifty pickoff play.
- Catchers Piper (13) and Jake (30) caught an outstanding game behind the plate.
The TP Major Peewee Selects (5-0) continue their EBA Select circuit road trip next week when they travel to Ravina Gardens on Wednesday, June 15 to play against the Annette A’s at 6:00 p.m.
