Beneath a tranquil canvas of cool and serene skies, our Toronto Playgrounds Rookie Ball Selects and the Royal York Cardinals played to a 10-10 draw in seven thrilling innings of Etobicoke Baseball Association (EBA) Select action this evening at Christie Pits Diamond 3.
Down 10-6, TP rallied in grand fashion in the bottom of the seventh as they scored four to tie the Cardinals. Sam (2) delivered the tying run home with a dramatic ground rule double that hit the Christie Pits washrooms situated in the deep portion of right field.
With TP’s winning run standing at third, the Cardinals eventually quelled the uprising and the proceeding ended in a dramatic tie.
In a postgame media interview, TP Rookie Ball Select Head Coach Jason Koskela was euphoric about his team’s comeback: “This was an epic battle between two excellent teams. The coaches are very proud of our team’s grit tonight- playing tough defence and battling back run by run at the plate. We’re looking forward to the rematch with Royal York in July!”
The TP Rookie Ball Selects (4-0-1) will play their next EBA Select game on Tuesday, June 21 when they host the Martingrove White Sox at Christie Pits Diamond 3 at 6:30 p.m.
