Our Toronto Playgrounds Rookie Ball Selects prevailed 7-5 over the North Toronto A’s in a thrilling seven inning final this afternoon at Adams Park to win the 2016 West Hill Tournament Championship Game.

With the victory, TP finished its successful championship run with a perfect 5-0 record at this weekend’s tournament in Scarborough.

Toronto Playgrounds opened the round robin portion of the West Hill tournament with a convincing 22-7 seven inning victory over the Brampton on Friday evening at Adams Park.

Early on Saturday, the TP Rookie Ball Selects triumphed over the West Hill Blue Hawks 17-4 in six frames at Adams Park.

Taking no prisoners, TP capped off the round robin portion of the tourney late Saturday afternoon with a riveting 6-3 victory over the East York Bulldogs at Adams Park. Deadlocked 3-3, TP scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to take the game and punch a ticket to the semi-final round.

TP followed that up with a dominating 18-3 semi-final victory over the York Blues early this morning.

They capped off the playoff round of the tourney this afternoon with a nail biting 7-5 championship game victory over the Athletics to take home the prize.

The TP Baseball Committee wishes to congratulate Rookie Ball Select Co-Head Coaches John Gordon and Jason Koskela, and Assistant Coaches David Badham and Rich Terfry for their fortitude and patience in steering these talented Rookie Ball Selects to championship glory at the West Hill Tournament.

The Committee also wishes to congratulate and commend all the Rookie Ball Select players, coaches and parents for representing the core values of the Toronto Playgrounds Baseball program with honour, dignity and professionalism both on and off the diamond at this weekend’s tournament and throughout the season.

WAY TO GO, TP!
