THE GRITTY EXPOS PREVAIL OVER THE ARTFUL DODGERS IN THE NIGHTCAP AT CHRISTIE PITS

Under the shimmer of the incandescent lights on a warm midsummer’s night, the Expos defeated the Dodgers 8-6 in five exciting innings of Peewee Division action this evening at Christie Pits Diamond 2.
Here is an Expos summary of the proceedings:

In the top of the first, Charlie (7) and Matthew (14) led off the inning with a pair of walks to put two aboard. Jonathan (3) drove them home with a three run home run! Harris (12) hit a single and came around to score the fourth Expos run.

Dodgers pitcher Aaron (5) had a 1-2-3 shutdown inning in the top of the second where he retired three Expos batters with three K’s.

In the top of the third, the Dodgers defense held the Expos to one run as Cameron (5) drew a walk and came home to roost.

With Expos reliever Harris (12) on the mound, William (9) made a fantastic defensive play at second to throw out the Dodgers baserunner at first!

In the top of the fourth, Dodgers reliever Wahid (9) threw a 1-2-3 inning with a K and two POs at first. Arron made a great throw to first base from right field!

Elias (10) of the Expos made a great throw from right field to nail a Dodgers baserunner at first base.

With the bases loaded in the top of the fifth, Javert (3) [a roster fill in from the Giants] cleared the bases with a crushing 3 RBI triple to left field.

Expos closer Charlie (7) entered the fray in the bottom of the fifth and held the Dodgers at bay allowing only three runs to preserve the victory. Charlie also got some help from the Expos defense as Harris threw from centre field to Jonathan to get the Dodgers baserunner at second base.
