Beneath a duvet of warm and humid skies, the Mariners defeated the Astros 4-1 in two innings of Mosquito Division action this evening at Trinity-Bellwoods Park Diamond 2.

  • The Mariners benefitted from some stellar pitching in their 4-1 win over the Astros.
  • Mariners starter Sam (2) struck out two in the first.
  • M’s reliever James (1) struck out one and forced a fly out to start the second. Then Mariners closer Ezra (14) sealed the deal, facing just one batter for a bases loaded strike out.
  • Ezra (14) singled and then After stroking a single, Ezra scored the first Mariners’ run off Shael’s (3) RBI single in the top of the second.
  • After Grayson (11) and Kai (5) drew walks to load the bases, Sam delivered a 3 RBI double to make the game 4-1, with Shael, Grayson and Kai scoring on the big hit.
  • Julia (8) and Grayson each stole a base, while Ezra reached base twice and then stole three bases.
  • Things looked dangerous for the Mariners in the bottom of the first when an Astros batter hit a long ball into deep right field. However, M’s right fielder William (10) retrieved the ball and made a throw to cut off man Ezra. Then Ezra executed a perfect throw to catcher Jordan (12), who made the tag out at home and prevented an Astros home run.
