Beneath a blanket of hazy and sunny skies, the Lizzies defeated the Dodgers 7-3 in four innings of Peewee Division action this evening at the Bickford Park South Diamond.

The Dodgers jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first. Following a one out walk and stolen base by Josh (3), Nick (15) delivered a RBI double to bring Josh home with the opening run of the game.

After Nick stole third, Lucas (2) delivered a run scoring sacrifice hit that allowed Nick to come home to crow.

With the bases loaded, Lizzies starter Raymond (14) would strike out two in the first to quell the Dodgers insurgency.

In the bottom of the first, the Lizzies would reply with one to make it a one run game. After a one out single, Zenon (9) would swipe a pair of bases to reach third. Zenon would blaze home with the Lizzies first run on a dropped third strike to Raymond. After he was ruled safe at first base, Raymond decided to make brazen bid to advance to second base. However, after taking the ball from catcher Aaron (5), Dodgers starter Lucas (2) made a rocket throw to second baseman Josh, who tagged out Raymond on the 2-1-4 putout.

Lucas would strike out two in the bottom of the first to subdue the Lizzies rebellion.

After surrendering a lead off double, Lizzies reliever Zenon (9) would induce a pair of groundouts and strike out one in the top of the second to keep the Dodgers off the scoring ledger. Lizzies second baseman Elayna (11) would turn a nice 4-3 putout to ring up the third out.

Dodgers reliever Josh (3) would strike out two in the bottom of the second to keep the Lizzies off the scoring abacus.

With two outs and two runners on base, Josh was helped out immeasurably when Lizzies third baseman Yonah (1) snagged a screaming line drive in the shoestrings of his glove to chalk up the third out of the inning.

The Dodgers would tally a run in the top of the third to widen their lead to 3-1. Following a lead off walk, Josh would advance to third on a stolen base and dropped third strike. Lucas would step into the batter’s box and deliver a run scoring sacrifice hit to plate Josh.

Lizzies reliever Josh (4) would strike out two in the third to extinguish the Dodgers malevolence.

The Lizzies would take advantage of four walks and a pair of errors in the bottom of the third to rally with four and take a 5-3 lead. With two outs and the bases loaded, the Dodgers would commit a grand faux pas that allowed the Lizzies to clear the bases, with Josh, Zenon and Raymond motoring homeward.

Following a walk to Nicholas (7) and a single by Jonah (6) that put two ducks on the pond, the Dodgers would commit another error that allowed Nicholas to come homeward bound.

In the top of the fourth, Lizzies reliever Jamie (13) would strike out two to keep the Artful Dodgers off the scoreboard.

The Lizzies would tack on two insurance runs in the bottom of the fourth to stretch their advantage to 7-3. With two outs and two Lizzies on base [Parker (1) and Jamie drew respective walks], the Dodgers committed an error that allowed both Parker and Jamie to blaze home to roost.

Dodgers reliever Wahid (9) would strike out two in the fourth to subdue the Lizzies rebellion.
