Under a mystical ceiling of celestial summer skies, the Pirates edged the Giants 8-7 in a riveting five inning semi-final playoff elimination game this evening at Christie Pits Diamond 2 to advance to the Peewee Division Championship Game against the Dodgers.

With the game deadlocked 5-5, the Pirates took the bull by the horns in the top of the fifth as they scored three to take an 8-5 lead. After a one out single, Loyan (6) swiped a pair of bases to advance to third. A wild pitch would open the portal for Loyan to bolt homeward with the go ahead run.

Following walks to Piper (3) and Aiden (1) that put two aboard, Liam (5) delivered a grace under pressure 2 RBI double to bring them home.

With their backs to the wall, the Mighty Giants refused to surrender as they mounted a ferocious comeback bid in the bottom of the fifth. Alex (13) would lead off the top of the inning with a wooly mammoth home run blast to the deep dish pizza nether regions of centre field to trim the deficit to two.

After Javert (3) earned a walk and stole two bases to reach third, Ben P. delivered a one out RBI single to bring him home and close the gap to one. Subsequently, Ben P. would swipe a pair of bases to advance to third.

From the first pitch to the final out, this proceeding was an intense, well played and highly entertaining affair. As Dylan charged for home, Giants shortstop Javert vacuumed up the ball and made a laser throw to catcher Ben P., who tagged out a sliding Dylan to ring up the first out on a nice 6-2 putout.

In the top of the fourth, the Bucs would rally for two to take a 5-4 lead. After Dajuan walked and Liam (5) was hit by pitch to open the inning, Nigel drew a walk to load the bases. A Giants faux pas would allow Liam and Nigel to move up a base and Dajuan to zoom home with the tying run.

Dylan followed and delivered a RBI double to bring Liam home with the go ahead run.
