WITH ONLY 24 DAYS LEFT BEFORE OPENING DAY, THE 2017 SEASON IS REVVING UP AS PLAYERS FROM OUR ROOKIE BALL, MOSQUITO, PEEWEE AND BANTAM DIVISIONS PARTICIPATED IN THEIR RESPECTIVE EVALUATION SESSIONS AT CHRISTIE PITS
Beneath a ceiling of genteel Spring skies, Toronto Playgrounds House League Baseball revved up the engine on its upcoming 2017 season by holding its annual Player Evaluation Sessions at Christie Pits.
Today’s session was the first of three evaluation sessions that will be held over the course of the next couple of days (weather permitting) for players in its respective Rookie Ball (2008-2009), Mosquito (2006-2007), Peewee (2004-2005) and Bantam (2001-2003) age classifications.
The House League player evaluation sessions involve players taking part in a number of drills, such as throwing, hitting, and fielding. We hold these evaluation sessions in order to get a sense of the skills and abilities of the players in our divisions, so that we can put together teams that are as fair and competitively balanced as possible.
The teams will be put together after the evaluation days, and you will be contacted by May 4 with the name of your team, name and contact information for the coach, and the date, time, and location of your first practice. Pre-season (Spring Training) practices will begin the weekend of May 6 and 7 and run until Thursday, May 18.
As much as possible we will be keeping the practices on the nights that each division plays/practices during the regular season. There may be one scheduled weekend practice for each team, however, because we want to schedule three pre-season practices for each team.
The pre-season practice schedule will be posted on the website and sent to everyone by Friday, May 5, and the regular season schedules will be posted on the website and sent to everyone by mid May. Our 2017 regular season commences on Tuesday, May 23.
Parents and Players in our respective Junior (2012-2013) and Senior (2010-2011) Tee Ball Divisions are reminded that there are no evaluations scheduled for players in Tee Ball.
