THE A’s TAKE DOWN TORONTO PLAYGROUNDS AT RAVINA GARDENS
Beneath a blanket of sombre skies, the Annette A’s defeated the Toronto Playgrounds Minor Rookie Ball Selects 20-11 in four innings of Etobicoke Baseball Association (EBA) Select action this evening at Ravina Gardens.
Here is a brief summary of the proceedings courtesy of Vincent Lynch:
- After TP staked themselves to an early 2-0 lead [with Theo (3) and Nathan (29) coming homeward bound to do the shimmy shimmy shake] in the top of the first, Annette stormed back with six in the bottom of the first to go up 6-2.
- TP answered with a pair in the top of the second to trim the deficit to two. TP’s Zach (19) and Qayam (11) came home to roost.
- However, the A’s replied with seven runs in the bottom of the second to widen their advantage to 13-4.
- Refusing to surrender, TP counterpunched with seven of their own in the top of the third to slice and dice the margin to 13-11.
- In the bottom of the third, Annette answered with three to increase their lead to 16-11.
- As TP went down in 1-2-3 fashion in the top of the fourth, the A’s added four insurance runs in the bottom half of the frame to salt the victory away.
The TP Minor Rookie Ball Selects (1-2) return home to Christie Pits Diamond 3 next Tuesday, May 30 to play host to the Weston Wolverines at 6:30 p.m.
