THE ATHLETICS PREVAIL OVER THE DEVIL RAYS IN A NAIL BITER AT CHRISTIE PITS
Beneath a canopy of sunny and cloudy skies, the A’s edged the Rays 4-3 in 4 ½ innings of Mosquito Division action this evening at Christie Pits Diamond 2.
Here is a Rays recap of the proceedings courtesy of Roe Sivanandan:
- Under skies that were interspersed with a mixture of sun and clouds, the visiting Rays (with an Opening Day roster of fourteen players) fell short by a run to the A’s on the first day of June.
- The Rays kept the game close against an equally strong A’s team over the course of five frames.
- Rays starter Liam began the game with a 1-2-3 inning in the first.
- In the third, the Rays brother combo of Jonas and Nikhil made for a solid pitcher-catcher combination as they rang up a 1-2-3 inning.
- Rays relievers Finn and Marshall pitched a nice pair of innings in the second and fourth respectively.
- Nikhil, Jonas and Jules were sound behind the plate all evening long for the Rays.
- On the offensive ledger, the Rays were great at the dish and efficient on the base paths, with many stolen bases.
- Jules went 2 for 2 at the plate versus the A’s.
- Every Rays player chipped in with hits during the proceeding: Liam (single); Charlie C. (single); Jonas (single); Charlie Z. (double); Nikhil (single).
- It was a wonderful start to the Mosquito Division regular season by the Rays!
