SELECT > TP Minor Rookie Ball Selects Go Down Swinging at the 2017 EBA Rookie Ball Select Tournament

THE CURTAIN COMES DOWN ON A FUN SEASON FOR THE TORONTO PLAYGROUNDS MINOR ROOKIE BALL SELECT TEAM

The 2017 Toronto Playgrounds Minor Rookie Ball Select Team

Beneath a canvas of warm and cloudy summer skies, the Toronto Playgrounds Minor Rookie Ball Selects went down swinging this morning at the 2017 edition of the Etobicoke Baseball Association (EBA) Rookie Ball Select Tournament.

TP began the playoff tournament on Friday evening with a rough 18-3 loss to the Martingrove White Sox at Neilson Park. As a result, TP was thrust into a must win scenario to continue their journey at the tourney. [Teams participating in this year’s EBA playoffs are operating under the double knockout formula, whereby a team with two losses would be eliminated from further contention in the tournament.]

Early this morning at Don Russell Park, the Weston Wolverines prevailed 14-12 over the TP Minors to knock them out of the tournament.

Despite falling short at the end of season tournament, the TP Minor Rookie Ball Selects had a fun and productive regular season on the EBA Select circuit with a 3-11 record.

In addition, TP Minor had rewarding experiences competing against elite teams at tourneys like the West Hill Tournament and the Lloyd McConnie Tournament during the course of the 2017 season.

The TP House League Baseball Committee wishes to thank TP Minor Rookie Ball Select Head Coach Vincent Lynch, Minor Rookie Ball Assistant Coaches Massimo Galati and Jean Potter, for their fortitude and patience in steering these talented Rookie Ball Selects through the highs and lows of a fun and  productive 2017 season.

The Committee also wishes to commend all the Minor Rookie Ball Select players, coaches, parents, and family members for representing the core values of the Toronto Playgrounds House League Baseball program with honour, dignity and professionalism both on and off the diamond during the course of the 2017 season.

WAY TO GO, TP!
