It’s a dream come true.

Toronto Playgrounds Baseball is proud to announce that that our ‘Lights On 3’ initiative is nearing fruition with the installation of lighting standards commencing at Christie Pits Diamond 3.

With the delivery of four massive concrete lighting poles to Christie Pits this morning, City of Toronto Parks, Forestry and Recreation contractor Kudlak-Baird has begun to put in the necessary electrical work in preparation for the installation of the lighting standards at Christie Pits Diamond 3.

The installation of light fixtures at the beloved diamond will add hundreds of additional playing hours for the baseball loving youth in our community.

Along with a financial contribution from the City of Toronto and fundraising contributions from members of our TP Baseball Family, the campaign to install lights at Christie Pits Diamond 3 was backboned by a generous $150,000 Field Of Dreams investment from the Jays Care Foundation, the charitable arm of the Toronto Blue Jays Baseball Club.

In an interview, TP Baseball President Bill Evans was effusive in his praise about the Lights On 3 initiative nearing the finish line: “These new lights will help more youth to play ball at Christie Pits. Thank you to Jays Care, Toronto City Councillor Mike LaytonThe Henderson Brewing Company, and all the members of our TP Baseball community for their support. See you all on May 12!”

And last, but not least (as Bill mentioned above), we will be holding a special ribbon cutting ceremony on Saturday, May 12 to commemorate the installation of lights at Christie Pits Diamond 3. More details to follow. Everyone is cordially invited.
