THE GOLD RIVERDOGS PREVAIL OVER TORONTO PLAYGROUNDS AT SMYTHE PARK
Beneath a canopy of warm and hazy skies, the York Gold defeated the Toronto Playgrounds Peewee Selects 11-8 in 4 ½ innings of Etobicoke Baseball Association (EBA) Peewee Select Loop action this evening at Smythe Park.
Here is a brief summary of the proceedings courtesy of Erin Mitchell:
- TP jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top half of the first. After garnering a walk and stealing his way around the horn with aplomb, Elliott (20) used his Grand Theft skills to come home with TP’s first run.
- In the bottom of the first, the Gold Riverdogs answered back quickly as they exploded for five to take a 5-1 lead.
- With York keeping TP off the scoreboard during the next three innings, the Gold built on their lead by adding a pair in the third and tallying another four in the fourth frame to stretch their advantage to 11-1
- Donning their rally caps, the never say die TP Peewee Selects exploded for seven in the top of the fifth to trim the margin to 11-8. The TP offensive fireworks was ignited byrespective hits from Ernesto (13), Dash(4), Fernando, Sam(2), Luca (12), Liam (26) and Cooper (7); and walks by Elliott and Simon B. The seven run surge made the final result a respectable 11-8 score. What a rally for TP!
The TP Peewee Selects (2-7) continue their Grateful Dead road trip on the backroads of the EBA Peewee Select Loop circuit next Wednesday (July 4) when they venture to Connorvale Park to battle the Royal York Boys at 6:00 p.m.
