WITH A PAIR OF LOSSES TO THE GREEN AND GOLD BOMBERS OF BLOORDALE, TORONTO PLAYGROUNDS PLAYOFF JOURNEY AT THE TOURNEY COMES TO AN END AT PELMO PARK

Beneath a ceiling of warm and tranquil midsummer skies, the Toronto Playgrounds Rookie Ball Selects journey at the 2018 Etobicoke Baseball Association (EBA) Rookie Ball Select Championship Tournament came to end this afternoon at Pelmo Park in Etobicoke.

TP opened the tourney on Friday afternoon with a 5-2 playoff elimination game loss to the Bloordale Green in a rain shortened five inning affair at Millwood Park.

Early this afternoon, the Bloordale Gold tallied a huge ten run inning to prevail 13-9 over TP in their second playoff elimination game at Pelmo Park.

Each team participating in the EBA Peewee Select playoff tourney is working under the double knockout formula, whereby a team is eliminated from further contention once they have lost two playoff elimination games.

With the pair of losses, Toronto Playgrounds (0-2) is officially eliminated from further playoff tournament play.

Despite an early exit from the EBA playoffs, the TP Rookie Ball Selects nevertheless had a fun filled season of baseball during the 2018 EBA Select campaign by garnering a stellar 13-3 regular season record

In addition, the TP Rookie Ball Selects had a great time and success participating at the Brantford Tournament and West Hill Tournament back in early June. The TP Rookie Ball Selects also earned a second place finish at the sixteen team Lloyd McConnie Memorial Tournament back in July.

The TP Baseball Committee wishes to thank TP Rookie Ball Select Head Coach Vincent Lynch and Assistant Coaches Massimo Galati, Jean Potter and Joel Shaffer for their fortitude and patience in steering these talented Rookie Ball Selects through the highs and lows of the lengthy 2018 season.

The Committee also wishes to commend all the Rookie Ball Select players, coaches, parents and family members for representing the core values of Toronto Playgrounds Baseball program with honour, dignity and professionalism both on and off the diamond during the course of the 2018 season.
