Beneath a crisp ceiling of chilly willy skies, the Toronto Playgrounds Major Mosquito Selects defeated the Toronto Playgrounds Minor Mosquito Selects 23-2 in a six inning preseason exhibition game this evening at Christie Pits Diamond 2.
Despite the lopsided result on the scoreboard, the game was a highly entertaining affair (see photos below) for the diehard TP Baseball fans chillin’ in the bleacher seats as both teams got themselves ready for the commencement of the 2019 Etobicoke Baseball Association (EBA) Mosquito Select regular season.
As TP Minor Mosquito Select third baseman Alex (11) reaches for the throw, TP Major Mosquito Select baserunner Sean (9) slides safely into third in a chitty, chitty, bang, bang play in the top half of the second frame.Taking no prisoners, TP Major Mosquito Select reliever Aron (14) mows down three batters with three scintillating K’s in the bottom of the second inning.TP Minor Mosquito Select southpaw Julian (1) rings up his team’s first and only strikeout in the top of the third frame. His effort brought the TP Minor fans to their feet in rapturous celebration.Alex (11) strokes a RBI single in the bottom of the third to bring home the TP Minor Mosquito Selects first run of the game.After overrunning the base on a steal, TP Major Mosquito Select baserunner Dylan S. (10) breathes a huge sigh of relief after successfully diving back head first into second and eluding the tag of TP Minor Mosquito Select shortstop Sawyer (5) in the top of the fourth inning.In never say die fashion, Chase (9) delivers a clutch two out RBI single for the TP Minor Mosquito Selects in the bottom of the fifth.With ice in his veins, TP Major Mosquito Select closer Dylan S.
