WITH 110 PARTICIPANTS PARTAKING, THE SIXTH ANNUAL TORONTO PLAYGROUNDS HOUSE LEAGUE BASEBALL HOSTED BLUE JAYS CLINIC AT CHRISTIE PITS WAS A WIN WIN AFFAIR FOR EVERYONE INVOLVED

Beneath a glorious blue blanket of picturesque and sunny skies today at Christie Pits, Toronto Playgrounds House League Baseball hosted its sixth consecutive Toronto Blue Jays Baseball Academy Honda Instructional Clinic.

With 110 participants in attendance, and a large coterie of parents observing the proceedings at Christie Pits Diamonds 2 and 3, the four-hour clinic proceeded with unbridled aplomb as players rotated through several drill stations, shepherded along by a skilled and passionate group Blue Jays Baseball Academy instructors, that dealt with fundamental baseball skills such as: hitting, throwing, fielding, pitching and baserunning.

And this year, participants in the clinic were rewarded with a special surprise after the conclusion of the clinic: Toronto Blue Jays Mascot Ace swooped into the left field area near Christie Pits Diamond 3 to greet and high five all the participants for their three and half hours of hard work.
After the dust had finally settled on the diamond, the overall verdict was unequivocable : the Blue Jays Instructional Clinic was a Grand Slam success!

The Blue Jays are keenly aware of the need for local associations (like Toronto Playgrounds House League Baseball) to raise funds to offset some of the rising costs they are experiencing to run their baseball programs. With TP Baseball receiving $25 per registration for hosting the instructional clinic, the Blue Jays wrote out a cheque for close to $2000 to our organization at the end of the day.

Not only are the Instructional Clinics an excellent fundraising opportunity for TP House League Baseball, these clinics will also compliment our player development program. It was a win win event for everyone involved.

The TP Baseball Committee wishes to thank all the participants who took part in the clinic. We would also like to thank the Toronto Blue Jays Baseball Club for allowing us to host this stellar event again.

And a special thanks again to TP Baseball President Bill Evans and TP Baseball Coordinator Steve Smith for spearheading the yearly organization of this spectacular annual fundraising event that brings the entire community together.
