Under a warm duvet of blue and cloudy skies, the Toronto Playgrounds Major Mosquito Selects defeated the Richmond Hill Phoenix Gold 10-0 in a four inning game this afternoon at Richvale Athletic Park Diamond 1 to win their opening round robin game at the Richmond Hill Phoenix Tournament.

Pitching a complete game over the course of four sparkling innings, TP starter Milo (27) utilized a stellar fifty-eight pitch repertoire to stymie the Phoenix Gold batting order and earn the victory.

In a dominating performance, Milo allowed no runs while tossing a no-hitter against Richmond Hill. Milo walked only one batter while striking out eleven. As a result, the game was suspended after four frames of play because of the tourney’s mercy rule.

TP jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first inning after Cooper (3) garnered a walk and subsequently came home with the peameal bacon.

In the third frame, TP added four more to their tally when Julian (20), Sean (13) and Momo (18) delivered respective RBI’s.

In a workmanlike one inning stint on the hill, Richmond Hill starter Ryan (17) allowed four runs, while striking out one and walking one.

Momo, William (33), Charlie (8), Sean, Dylan (10), Julian, and Aron (14) each contributed one hit to the TP attack.

In a total team effort, the TP Major Mosquito defence was rock solid in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Charlie led TP with the most chances in the field with eight.

The TP Major Mosquito Selects (1-0) journey at the tourney continues tomorrow (Saturday) afternoon at Richvale Athletic Park Diamond 4 with a Division B round robin game versus the Leaside Leafs (0-1) at 1:15 p.m.
