Beneath a very warm ceiling of blue and cloudy skies, the Toronto Playgrounds Major Mosquito Selects defeated the Midland Twins 18-1 in a 3 ½ inning proceeding this afternoon at the Innisfil Recreation Complex to win the 2019 Innisfil Minor Baseball Association Mosquito Select Championship Game.
Taking care of business, TP unleashed a vicious sixteen hit assault to bury the Twins. In a total team victory, TP had major contributions from every player in batting order as the Major Mosquito Team scored four runs in the first inning; tallied another five in the second frame; and added nine insurance runs in the bottom of the third to salt the game away.
After surrendering a run in the top of the first, TP starter Milo (27) blanked Midland the rest of the way as he pitched a stellar four inning complete game to earn the win. Milo chalked up ten strikeouts against the Twins.
With victories over Uxbridge, Mississauga and Innisfil # 2 on Friday and Saturday, TP finished the round robin portion of the tourney with a perfect 3-0 record. As such, they earned a semi-final berth against the Innisfil # 1 Cardinals on Sunday.
Early this morning, a gritty Toronto Playgrounds squad prevailed 15-5 over a pesky Cardinals team in a five inning Semi-Final Game to advance to the championship game versus Midland.
WAY TO GO, TP!!!
