SELECT > York Top TP 18U Selects 13-7 in 2021 EBA 18U Select Tournament Semi-Final Game

WITH THE LOSS TO THE BULLDOGS AT SMYTHE PARK, TORONTO PLAYGROUNDS JOURNEY AT THE TOURNEY COMES TO AN END. DESPITE FALLING SHORT OF THEIR ULTIMATE GOAL, THE TP 18U SELECTS EXPERIENCED A FUN AND REWARDING SUMMER OF BASEBALL ON THE FIELD OF DREAMS.

2021 Toronto Playgrounds Baseball 18U Select Team.

Beneath a duvet of hot and humid summer skies, the York Riverdogs defeated the Toronto Playgrounds 18U Selects 13-7 in a 2021 Etobicoke Baseball Association (EBA) 18U Select Championship Tournament semi-final elimination playoff game this afternoon at Smythe Park.

With their second playoff loss, the Toronto Playgrounds 18U Selects (1-2) are now officially eliminated from further playoff tournament play. (Each team participating in the EBA 18U Select playoff tourney is working under the double knockout formula, whereby a team is eliminated from further contention once they have lost two elimination playoff games.)

TP began its journey at the tourney on Friday night with a 15-0 loss to the Bloordale Green at Dominico Field at Christie Pits.

With their season on the line, TP rebounded yesterday afternoon with a convincing 14-3 victory over the East York Bulldogs at Millwood Park to stay alive at the tournament.

With a 6-6 regular season record and a semi-final showing at the EBA playoffs, the TP 18U Selects had a fun filled and enormously rewarding season of baseball during the compressed 2021 EBA Select campaign.

The TP Baseball Committee wishes to express their thanks to TP 18U Select Head Coach Jundino Ugo and Assistant Coaches Paul Kelly and Gord McCallum for their fortitude and patience in steering these talented 18U Selects through the highs and lows of the 2021 season.

And a special kudos goes out to TP 18U Select Manager Karen Ward for her dedication and hard work behind the scenes keeping the team organized and game ready during the 2021 campaign.

The Committee also wishes to commend all the 18U Select coaches, players, parents and family members for representing the core values of Toronto Playgrounds Baseball program with honour, dignity and professionalism both on and off the diamond during the course of the 2021 season.

WAY TO GO, TP!
