The Toronto Playgrounds Baseball Association (TPBA) has announced the appointment of Reagan Maude as their new executive president of baseball operations at Christie Pits.

With Bill Evans stepping down as our beloved president after ten trailblazing years at the helm, Reagan was the obvious choice to succeed him with fourteen stellar years of experience with TP in her résumé. And in an important historical footnote, Reagan also becomes the first female to serve as TP Baseball President.

Reagan joined the TP Baseball Family back in 2008 when her eldest son, Lachlan, began playing Tee Ball at Bickford Park. Sharing his mother’s passionate love of the game, Lachlan played on the inaugural TP Rookie Ball Select Team in 2011. With a dash of relish and a dollop of mustard, Reagan took over as the general manager of that team and has continued her tireless support of our House League, Select and Rep baseball programs as a coach and board of director member to this very day.

Always renowned for thinking outside the batter’s box as a TP volunteer, it was Reagan who spearheaded the initiative to launch the Derby for Distance fundraising event in 2012. The derby event was a huge revenue generator that helped offset the costs of our community baseball operations for several seasons. With a never can’t do resolve, Reagan was also renowned for recruiting family and friends to pitch in at the Derby; Opening Week or Celebration Day events.

After she joined the TP Baseball Committee (the precursor to the present day TPBA Board of Directors) in 2017, Reagan led the Lights on 3 fundraising effort to raise our portion of the money to finance the costs of installing lights at Christie Pits Diamond 3. She came up with sparkling ideas like selling “Art Bats” and “The Sweet Spot” Maple Syrup to generate revenue. In conjunction with a generous $150,000 contribution from the Jays Care Foundation, financial assistance from the City of Toronto, and kind donations from members of our community, we achieved our Lights On 3 mission. The lights on Diamond 3 has created additional playing time that has allowed more kids in our community to keep playing the beautiful game of baseball.

On behalf of the entire TP Baseball Family, the TPBA Board of Directors extends its best wishes to Reagan as she takes stewardship of our beloved community baseball program.

GO! TP! GO!
