The Toronto Playgrounds Baseball Association (TPBA) will be hosting its eighth Toronto Blue Jays Baseball Academy Instructional Clinic on Saturday, June 3 at Christie Pits (750 Bloor Street West) for all interested players aged 8* to 12. (*Any participants born in 2015 and are turning 8 in 2023 can sign up for the clinic.)

Participants partaking in the clinic are taught exclusively by Blue Jays Baseball Academy instructors. Academy instructors are NCCP (National Coaching Certification Program) registered, experienced coaches, who have been trained in the “Blue Jays Way” of teaching baseball to youth participants. Many instructors have been with the Blue Jays Baseball Academy for several years, facilitating clinics and camps when they aren’t teaching baseball in their own communities. The instructors will teach young players all the necessary and fundamental skills one should know about baseball in a fun and structured atmosphere.

Each clinic will be four hours in length. Players rotate through drills that cover skills including: infield, outfield, hitting, throwing, agility, and baserunning. Instructional Clinic registrants will also participate in a Baseball Athletic Training station, which serves as an introduction to fundamental athletic movement. Prior to the start of the clinic, coaches and parents are welcome to join instructors on the field to observe drills, ask instructors questions, and enhance their learning.

All participants are asked to bring a baseball glove, bat, helmet, baseball cleats or running shoes, and be dressed in appropriate athletic attire. Please also bring enough water, snacks and sunscreen based on the climate that day. A couple bats and helmets will be available for folks who do not own those items.

Registered participants are recommended to arrive 20-30 minutes before the clinic begins in order to check in at our registration table.

The fee for the clinic is $65.00 (plus H.S.T.) per participant.

The instructional session at Christie Pits will commence at 10:00 a.m. sharp and run until 2:00 p.m.

All registered participants will receive a Blue Jays hat, t-shirt and digital baseball skills manual. Each clinic registration will also include one FREE kids ticket to a Blue Jays game.

2023 TORONTO BLUE JAYS BASEBALL ACADEMY INSTRUCTIONAL CLINIC REGISTRATION FORM

Registrants for the clinic are advised that the Blue Jays will be processing all registrations and payments for the event.

All registered participants receive a confirmation email after registering for a clinic. An information email about the clinic is sent out roughly five days prior to the clinic date and will contain details about the clinic including when to arrive, what to bring and if necessary, details on the inclement weather plan. Receipts will be emailed to participants at least two business days after registering.

The Blue Jays are keenly aware of the need for local associations (like the Toronto Playgrounds Baseball Association) to raise funds to offset some of the rising costs they are experiencing. Therefore, the TPBA will receive $25 per participant (after the first 25 registrations) for hosting the instructional clinic.

Not only are the Instructional Clinics an excellent fundraising opportunity for local baseball associations, these clinics will also compliment the local association’s player development program. It’s a win win event for everyone involved.

A full refund, less a $10 administration fee, will be granted if registration is cancelled at least 48 hours prior to clinic date. Any cancellations within 48 hours of the clinic will not receive a refund, with the exception of a participant who is feeling ill.

For any questions about the Instructional Clinic in your area, please contact the Blue Jays Academy at baseball.academy@bluejays.com.
