FIRING ON ALL CYLINDERS, TORONTO PLAYGROUNDS PREVAIL OVER THE WHITE SOX AT CHRISTIE PITS FOR THEIR SEVENTH 2023 EBA 13U SELECT LOOP VICTORY

Beneath a pristine ceiling of warm and serene skies, the Toronto Playgrounds 13U Blue Selects defeated the Martingrove 13U White Sox 19-5 in a 3½ inning Etobicoke Baseball Association (EBA) 13U Select game tonight at Christie Pits Diamond 2.
With one out, Martingrove threatened in the top half of the first inning after Aaron (22) drew a walk and Max (7) reached base on a hit by pitch that put two White Sox on the dance floor.
Sensing an opportunity, Martingrove baserunner Aaron made the bold as brass decision to steal third base. However, TP 13U Blue catcher Dante (10) made a lightning toss to TP third baseman Peter (83), who quickly slapped an emphatic tag on Aaron to thwart his Grand Theft dreams on a riveting 2-5 putout for the second out.

Cool as a Persian cucumber, TP 13U Blue starter Andrew (17) rang up two strikeouts to end the White Sox subversiveness in the first frame.
In the bottom of the first, Toronto Playgrounds staked itself to an early 7-0 advantage.
After a one out double by Jack (1), Andrew stroked a RBI single that allowed Jack to hustle home with the opening run of the proceedings.



With two outs and a runner on second base, Will (22) connected for a RBI single that brought Andrew home with a TP run.
After Will advanced to third base on a White Sox error and a stolen base, Ethan (4) delivered a clutch RBI hit that allowed Will to come home with another TP run.
Following a walk by Peter that put two ducks on the pond, Ellis (88) powered a grace under pressure two RBI double that brought Ethan and Peter home with a pair of TP runs.


After a walk by Nathan H (18) put two aboard, Emeric (34) delivered a two RBI double that allowed Ellis and Nathan H to motor home another two runs for TP.
In a gritty foray on the hill, Martingrove 13U starter Camron (6) tallied a strikeout, pop out and a groundout to terminate the TP assault in the first inning.

Martingrove threatened again in the top of the second after Adam (87) led off the inning with a walk and a pair of stolen bases that moved him into scoring position at third base.
With no desire to pussyfoot around the bush, TP 13U Blue starter Andrew chalked up a groundout, pop out and strikeout to vanquish the White Sox unrest in the second inning.
Putting the pedal to the metal, TP 13U Blue semt thirteen batters to the Mandarin Buffet line in the bottom portion of the second frame and duly added another seven spot to their crypto currency account to stretch their upper hand to 14-0.
Exercising patience at the dish, Nathan K. (2), Jack and Andrew garnered a trifecta of walks to open the inning and load the bases. With the bases packed tighter than a can of sardines, Will stepped up to the dish and delivered a one out two RBI hit that allowed Nathan K and Jack to come home with a pair of TP runs.


After Ethan drew a walk that reloaded the bases, Peter muscled a scorching RBI single that brought Andrew home with another TP run.
With the bases still juiced to the gills, Ellis and Nathan H drew back to back bases loaded RBI walks that allowed Will and Ethan to shuffle homeward with two more TP runs.
On the next sequence, Emeric reached base on a Martingrove error with the bases still loaded. The White Sox faux pas allowed Ellis and Nathan H to move respectively to third and second base, and brought Peter home with a TP run.
Louis (27) followed with a RBI single that allowed Ellis to score another TP run.


With Rome burning, Martingrove 13U reliever Aaron entered the fray to tally a strikeout and a groundout to extinguish the TP insurrection in the second inning.
Refusing to go quietly into the night, the Martingrove offence stirred to life in the top of the third frame as they scored three runs to trim the gap to 14-3.
After a pair of walks by Xavier (98) and Camron that put two aboard to begin the inning, Matty (68) stroked a one out RBI single that brought Xavier home with the White Sox first run of the game.


With runners on third and second, Nate (15) hit into a 1-3 groundout that advanced Matty to third base and allowed Camron to motor home with another White Sox run.


With opportunity knocking on the door, Adrian (23) delivered a RBI hit that brought Matty homeward with another White Sox run.
Shaken, but not stirred, TP 13U Blue reliever Nathan K chalked up a pop out, groundout and strikeout to terminate the White Sox insurrection in the third frame.

Toronto Playgrounds added five insurance runs to their haul in the bottom half of the third inning to increase their lead to 19-3.
After a leadoff hit by Andrew, Dante stroked a single that put two mallards on the lake. Will followed with a RBI hit that advanced Dante to third base and brought Andrew home with the peameal bacon.


With runners on third and first, Ethan delivered a RBI single that moved Will to second and allowed Dante to motor home with a TP run.
Peter followed with a RBI double that advanced Ethan to third base and brought Will homeward with another TP run.
Following a two out walk by Emeric that loaded the bases, Louis stepped into the batter’s box and delivered a coup de grâce two RBI single that allowed Ethan and Peter to blaze home with two additional TP runs.

With true grit, Martingrove 13U reliever Aaron rung up three strikeouts to end the TP anarchy in the third inning.
Donning their rally caps, Martingrove refused to go down without a fight in the top of the fourth as they scored a run to close the margin to 19-4.
After a pair of walks by Noah (99) and Adam to begin the inning, Adrian (8) hit into a 5-5 groundout that allowed Noah yo score a White Sox run from third base.
Following a one out walk by Bobby (12) that put two White Sox runners on the ironing board, TP 13U Blue reliever Ethan entered the fray to ring up a Say Hey double play that sealed the deal on TP’s victory.

After reeling in a screaming hot tamale line drive off the bat of Martingrove batter Lucas (5) in his trusty mitt for the second out, Ethan made a lightning toss over to TP first baseman Jack to erase a wayfaring White Sox baserunner for the third out and complete a sweet 1-3 double play to bring the curtain down on the proceedings.
