TAKING FLIGHT, THE GREEN BOMBERS UNLEASH A 35-HIT FUSILLADE TO PREVAIL OVER TORONTO PLAYGROUNDS FOR THE 2023 EBA 9U SELECT GAME VICTORY AT CHRISTIE PITS
Beneath a checkered duvet of hot and hazy skies, the Bloordale 9U Green Bombers defeated the Toronto Playgrounds 9U Selects in a five inning Etobicoke Baseball Association (EBA) 9U Select Loop game this evening at Christie Pits Diamond 3.
With bombardier precision, Bloordale Green jumped out to an early 7-0 advantage in the top portion of the first frame.
After a pair of singles by Jack (45 and Andrew (37) to lead off the inning, Blake (97) stroked a single to load the bases. Oliver followed with a hard grounder to TP 9U pitcher Nicola (5). As Bombers baserunner Jack charged homeward, Nicola made a laser throw to TP 9U catcher Emmett (4), who reeled in the throw to erase Jack on a pretty 1-2 force out play to tally the first out.
With one out and the bases packed tighter than a can of StarKist tuna, Vivienne (8) delivered a two RBI hit that brought Andrew and Blake home with the opening runs of the game.
Following a single by Riley (66) that reloaded the bases, Henry (5) cranked a hot chorizo two RBI double that advanced Riley to third base and allowed Oliver and Vivienne to motor home with a pair of Bomber runs.
With Bombers on the runway at third and second base, Julian (32) stroked a RBI hit that moved Henry to third and brought Rilry home with another Bloordale run.
Owen (88) capped off the Green Bombers big seven run first inning with a two RBI single that allowed Henry and Julian to score
Taking umbrage at their situation, Toronto Playgrounds quickly answered back with a five spot in the bottom of the first inning that trimmed the gap to 7-5.
After back to back singles by Kaden (0) and Whit (16) to begin the inning, Rowan (23) connected for RBI hit that brought Kaden home with TP’s first run.
Following Cordell’s (9) fielder’s choice that advanced Whit to third base and erased Rowan at second base, Whit took advantage of a Bloordale defensive lapse to bring home another TP run with a hustle bustle theft of home.
After a hit by Eli D. (8) that put runners at second and first, Carson (27) stroked a RBI single that allowed Cordell to zoom homeward with another TP run.
Following a two out single by Emmett that loaded the bases, Nicola delivered a clutch two RBI hit that brought Eli D. and Carson home with a pair of TP runs.
Putting the pedal to the metal, Bloordale Green replied with seven runs in the top of the second frame to extend their plurality to 14-5.
After a pair of singles by Jack and Andrew to lead off the inning, Blake connected for a RBI hit that allowed Jack to zoom home with a Bombers run. A TP error on the play allowed Andrew and Blake to advance respectively to third and second base.
With two Bombers on the tarmac, Oliver delivered a two RBI single that brought Andrew and Blake home with two more Bloordale runs.
With true grit, Vivienne followed with a RBI double that allowed Oliver to blaze homeward with another Bombers run.
Following a single by Riley that put two ducks on the pond, Henry stroked a RBI hit that allowed Vivienne to score another Bloordale run.
After a single by Julian that loaded the bases, Owen delivered a two RBI hit that brought Riley and Henry home with two Bloordale runs.
Not conceding an inch, the TP 9U Selects scored four in the bottom of the second inning to whittle the margin to 14-9.
After a leadoff hit by Sean (19), Drew (12) stroked a single that put two mallards on the lake, With runners at third and first base, Kaden connected for a made in the shade Cool Hand Luke RBI hit that advanced Drew to second base and brought Sean home with a TP run.
With opportunity knocking, Whit followed with crisp two RBI double that allowed Drew and Kaden to score a pair of TP runs.
Following a hit by Rowan that put two runners aboard, Cordell hit into a fielder’s choice that erased Rowan at second base and brought Whit home with another TP run.
With no desire to rest on their laurels, Bloordale Green licked it up a notch and added another four to their treasure trove to stretch their advantage to 18-9.
After a leadoff single by Jack, Andrew followed with a RBI triple that allowed Jack to scamper full throttle around the horn and come home with a Bombers run.
With a runner standing a mere 65 feet away from pay dirt, Blake connected for a RBI single that brought Andrew home with another Bloordale run.
It was at this juncture in the proceedings where Oliver stepped up to the dish and delivered a Say Hey two run home run blast to the the deep dish pizza nether regions of the outfield that brought the Bomber fans in the bleacher seats to their feet in joyous celebration!
Kudos to TP 9U Select shortstop Kaden made three Holy Cow solo defensive putouts on three Bloordale pop ups to extinguish the Green Bombers insurgency in the third inning!
Refusing to go quietly into the night, Toronto Playgrounds battled back with three in the bottom portion of the third frame to trail 18-12.
Following a leadoff hit by Carson, Benji stroked a single that put two aboard. A Bloordale error on the play allowed Carson to advance to third base.
With one out, Nicola stroked a RBI single that advanced Benji to third base and brought Carson home with a TP run.
With runners on the corners, Jack (11) hit into a run scoring fielder’s choice that erased Nicola at second base and allowed Benji to motor home with another TP run.
Following a two out single by Sean, Milo (99) reached base on a single to load the bases. On the play, Jack took advantage of a Bloordale defensive lapse to score a a TP run on a theft of home.
The Bloordale Green tallied two more runs in the top of the fourth to widen their upper hand to 20-12.

In never say die fashion. the TP 9U Selects clawed back with a pair in the bottom half to close the deficit to 20-14.
Following a leadoff single by Kaden, Whit delivered a RBI double that allowed Kaden to motor home and score.
After back to back singles by Rowan and Cordell to load the bases, Carson hit into a fielder’s choice that brought Whit home with another TP run.
Following a single by Benji to reload the bases. the Green Bombers turned a 1-4 double play that put a kibosh on the TP rally bid in the fourth frame.
In the top portion of the fifth, Bloordale Green added seven insurance runs to secure their lead at 27-14.
After a leadoff double by Henry, Julian singled to put two Bombers on the runway. Jack delivered a one out RBI double that allowed Henry to hustle home with a run for the Bombers.
Andrew followed with a two RBI double that brought Julian and Jack to fly home with a pair of Bloordale runs.
Marching in lockstep, Blake connected for a RBI double that allowed Andrew to motor home with another Bombers run.
Oliver followed suit with a RBI double to bring Blake home with yet another Bloordale run.
Then Vivienne stepped up to the plate and mashed a RBI single that allowed Oliver to come home to roost.
Following a single by Riley that put runners on second and first base, Henry brought Vivienne home with a RBI hit.
Donning their rally caps, the TP 9U Selects made one final bid to change their fate in the bottom of the fifth inning.
However, Toronto Playgrounds went down quietly in their last at bats as the Bloordale sealed the deal on a dominating victory.
