TORONTO PLAYGROUNDS PREVAIL OVER THE WHITE CARDINALS IN THE CONSOLATION GAME TO FINISH THE TOURNEY WITH AN OVERALL 4-1 RECORD AND A THIRD PLACE FINISH AT ETOBICOKE VALLEY PARK
Beneath a warm layer of sunny and cloudy skies, the Toronto Playgrounds 9U Selects defeated the Royal York 9U White Cardinals 12-2 this afternoon at Etobicoke Valley Park Diamond 3 to win the 2023 Lloyd McConnie Memorial 9U Select Tournament Consolation Game.
With their take no prisoners consolation game victory, the TP 9U Selects finished the Lloyd McConnie tourney with an 4-1 overall record and a third place finish amongst the sixteen teams competing at the tournament this weekend.
Taking care of business, Toronto Playgrounds began its journey at the tourney on Saturday morning with a 16-8 win over the East York Bulldogs to earn its first round robin round victory at the Lloyd McConnie tournament.
With the wind in its sails, the TP 9U Selects triumphed 27-16 over the Martingrove 9U White Sox (White) on Saturday afternoon to win its second round robin game at the tourney.
In a tooth and nail battle this morning, Toronto Playgrounds edged the Midland Twins 20-19 to earn their third round robin game victory at the tourney.
With an unblemished 3-0 round robin record, the TP 9U Selects finished atop the standings in the Bruce Armstrong Division and advanced into the elimination round of the Lloyd McConnie tourney.
Earlier this afternoon, the Annette 9U A’s defeated the TP 9U Selects 23-11 in a semi-final elimination round game at Etobicoke Valley Park Diamond 2 to advance into the championship round showdown versus the Bloordale 9U Green Bombers. With their loss, TP faced the Royal York White Cardinals in the consolation round.
