SELECT > TP 9U’s Journey at the 2024 Clarington (CBA) 9U Select Tournament Sideswiped by Mother Nature


AFTER FINISHING IN SECOND PLACE IN THEIR ROUND ROBIN POOL WITH A 2-1 RECORD, TORONTO PLAYGROUNDS EARNED A SEMI-FINAL BERTH AT THE CLARINGTON 9U SELECT TOURNAMENT. UNFORTUNATELY, THOSE PLANS WERE SCUTTLED AFTER TOURNAMENT OFFICIALS WERE FORCED TO CANCEL THE SEMI-FINAL ELIMINATION ROUND DUE TO CONTINUING RAIN AND WET FIELD CONDITIONS. DESPITE THE DISAPPOINTING RAINY DAY NEWS, ALL THE TP FAITHFUL IN ATTENDANCE HAD A FUN AND REWARDING WEEKEND EXPERIENCE AT THE TOURNEY IN BOWMANVILLE

In TP 9U’s opening round robin game on Friday evening at the Clarington 9U Select Tournament, the Guelph 9U Royals chose Ambrose (3) [left] as TP’s most valuable player. Santiago (25) was chosen as the team’s MVP by the TP 9U coaches for his contributions in TP’s 13-10 round robin victory over Guelph.
In TP 9U’s second round robin game on Saturday morning at the Clarington 9U Select Tourney, the Thornhill 9U Reds chose Ciaran (11) [left] as TP’s most valuable player. Orion (8) was chosen as the team’s MVP by the TP 9U coaches for his contributions during TP’s 9-5 round robin loss to Thornhill.

And in their third round robin game on Saturday afternoon, TP 9U defeated the Pickering 9U Red Sox 18-4 to earn their second victory at the Clarington 9U tourney, With their take no prisoners win over the Red Sox, TP 9U punched their ticket into Sunday’s semi-final elimination round.

And then the downpour of rain came……
