FIRING ON ALL CYLINDERS, TORONTO PLAYGROUNDS PREVAIL OVER THE CANADIANS FOR THE CHAMPIONSHIP PRIZE AT CONNORVALE PARK IN ETOBICOKE

2024 Royal York (RYBL) Cardinals Mid-Summer Invitational 16U Rep ‘AA’ Tournament Champions: Toronto Playgrounds Baseball Association (TPBA) 16U ‘AA’.

Beneath a warm ceiling of sunny and hazy skies, the Toronto Playgrounds 16U defeated the Whitby 16U Canadians this afternoon at the Connorvale Park North Diamond to win the 2024 Royal York (RYBL) Cardinals Mid-Summer Invitational 16U Rep ‘AA’ Tournament Championship Game.

TP 16U began its journey at the Cardinals tourney on Friday afternoon with a tooth and nail 4-2 win over the the Mississauga Tigers to earn its first round robin victory.

In a Saturday morning battle where runs came at a premium, TP 16U were upended 1-0 by the Waterloo Tigers in their second round robin game at the tourney.

With true grit, TP 16U rebounded on Saturday afternoon with a 10-3 victory over the Vaughan Vikings in their final round robin game.

After finishing the round robin portion of the tournament with a 2-1 record, Toronto Playgrounds earned a berth in Sunday’s semi-final elimination portion of the Cardinals tourney.

Early this morning, TP 16U took care of business as they blanked the Royal York Cardinals 7-0 in a semi-final elimination game.

With their victory over the Cardinals, TP 16U punched their ticket into the championship round, with a showdown for all the marbles against Whitby.

The Toronto Playgrounds Baseball Association (TPBA) wishes to congratulate Head Coaches Tim Lawrence and Aidan McClory; and the players of the TP 16U ‘AA’ Team for their championship finish at the 2024 RYBL Cardinals Mid-Summer Invitational 16U ‘AA’ Tournament.

The TPBA also wishes to commend all the TP 16U ‘AA’ coaches, players, parents and family members for representing the core values of TPBA program with honour, dignity and professionalism both on and off the diamond at the weekend at the Cardinals tourney.
