PEEWEE > Dodgers Edge Pirates 8-7


THE ARTFUL DODGERS PREVAIL OVER THE GNARLY BUCCANEERS AT DOVERCOURT PARK TO TAKE THE GOLD DOUBLOONS OF SWEET VICTORY

Beneath a ceiling of genteel summer skies, the Dodgers edged the Pirates 8-7 in four innings of Peewee Division action this evening at the Dovercourt Park Diamond.

Here is a Dodgers recap of the proceedings courtesy of Richard Park:

  • The Dodgers were able to hold onto an 8 – 7 win in four innings versus the Pirates on Wednesday,
  • In the top of the first, the Dodgers plundered the Pirates for four runs on steals of home to take an early 4-0 lead.
  • After surrendering some solid hits, Dodgers starter Sasha (13) was able to settle down in the bottom of the first and end the inning by limiting the Bucs to three runs while striking out three
  • The Dodgers needed to burn off some excess energy in the top half of the second as they stole another three runs and walked another run home to extend their  lead to 8-3.
  • After giving up a home run, Dodgers reliever Anthony (15) pitched a solid bottom of the second by striking out a pair and getting a nice defensive fielding play by Luca (12) on a ground out to first.
  • The Pirates pitchers settled down and shut down the Dodgers in the top of the third.
  • After giving up three runs on some wild plays in the field, Dodgers reliever Luca (12) was able to preserve an 8-7 lead after settling down to ring up three strikeouts.
  • In the top portion of the fourth, the Pirates bullpen were again able to hold the Dodgers scoreless with some good plays in the field.
  • Dodger closer Vince (6) preserved the win for the Dodgers with three strikeouts in the bottom of the fourth.
