WITH THE LOSS TO THE CARDINALS AT DOVERCOURT PARK, TORONTO PLAYGROUNDS JOURNEY AT THE TOURNEY COMES TO AN END. DESPITE FALLING SHORT OF THEIR ULTIMATE GOAL, THE TP 13U BLUE SELECTS EXPERIENCED A FUN AND REWARDING SUMMER OF BASEBALL ON THE FIELD OF DREAMS.

Under a hot tin roof ceiling of warm and humid skies, the Royal York Girls defeated the Toronto Playgrounds 13U Blue Selects 19-4 in a 3½ inning 2021 Etobicoke Baseball Association (EBA) 13U Select Championship Tournament semi-final elimination playoff game this afternoon at Dovercourt Park.
With their second playoff loss, the Toronto Playgrounds 13U Blue Selects (2-2) are now officially eliminated from further playoff tournament play. (Each team participating in the EBA 13U Select playoff tourney is working under the double knockout formula, whereby a team is eliminated from further contention once they have lost two elimination playoff games.)
The TP 13U Blue Selects began its journey at the tourney on Friday afternoon with a slender tenderloin 12-10 loss to the TP 13U Red Selects at Dovercourt Park.
With their season on the line, the TP 13U Blue Selects rebounded with a take no prisoners 14-8 victory over the Martingrove White Sox on Friday night at Christie Pits to stay alive at the tournament.
In a do or die contest on Saturday afternoon, TP Blue prevailed 10-6 over the Weston Wolverines at Dovercourt Park to punch a ticket into the semi-final round of the 2021 EBA 13U Championship Tournament.
With a 4-9-1 regular season record and a semi-final showing at the EBA playoffs, the TP 13U Blue Selects had a fun filled and enormously rewarding season of baseball during the compressed 2021 EBA Select campaign.
The TP Baseball Committee wishes to express their thanks to TP 13U Blue Select Head Coach Rob Ball and Assistant Coaches Beth Arseneau; Ted Frankel and Mark Steinberg for their fortitude and patience in steering these talented 13U Selects through the highs and lows of the 2021 season.
And a special kudos goes out to TP 13U Blue Select Manager Joy Lam for her dedication and hard work behind the scenes keeping the team organized and game ready during the 2021 campaign.
The Committee also wishes to commend all the 13U Blue Select coaches, players, parents and family members for representing the core values of Toronto Playgrounds Baseball program with honour, dignity and professionalism both on and off the diamond during the course of the 2021 season.
