ON DECK: Extreme Heat Alert Issued By The City Of Toronto

ALL GAMES AND PRACTICES ON AS SCHEDULED; PLAYERS AND PARENTS ADVISED TO STAY HYDRATED AND PROTECTED AMIDST SUNNY AND VERY HUMID WEATHER CONDITIONS

It’s hot and humid out at the baseball diamonds again today. So hot that the City of Toronto has continued to issue an extreme heat  alert advisory along with a smog and extreme humidity advisory. Needless to say that all games and practices are on as scheduled in the Toronto Playgrounds House League Baseball program.

With a forecasted early evening temperature of 30 C with a humidex of 44 C, players are strongly encouraged to keep themselves shielded from the UV rays of the sun by wearing their baseball caps. Sunscreen lotion on exposed skin areas is also encouraged to prevent sunburn.

Most importantly, players participating in games and practices are strongly advised to keep themselves hydrated to avoid dehydration in the humid weather. So, please bring a bottle of chilled water to the ballpark with you. And lest we not forget, parents coming down to the park are advised to take the same  preventative measures to protect themselves from the heat.

Let’s play ball safely.
