UPDATE: MOSQUITO DIVISION GAMES ON AS SCHEDULED TODAY; BROKEN SEWAGE PIPE AFFECTS BASEBALL DIAMOND AVAILABILITY; REVISED SCHEDULE TO BE POSTED TOMORROW
It appears that as of tomorrow (Friday, June 9), the Toronto Playgrounds Baseball Program will be losing the use of Diamond # 3 at Christie Pits for two or three weeks.
There is a hole in a sewage pipe that runs from the Alex Duff swimming pool facility to the building in the middle of the park (which houses the Christie Pits washrooms and the Toronto Maple Leaf Intercounty Baseball team dressing rooms).
The pipe repair crew dug a fairly deep hole Tuesday (June 7) right beside the building in the middle of Christie Pits but didn’t find the broken sewage pipe. As a result, they will have to dig up more of the baseball field until they find it and replace the broken pipe.
UPDATE: The scheduled Mosquito Division games scheduled for tonight (Thursday, July 8) are on as scheduled.
UPDATE: The TP Baseball Committee will be making a thorough examination of the TP House League Baseball schedules in an attempt to figure out the best way to cope with this unfortunate development. Schedule revisions for the affected divisions will be announced by 5 p.m. on Friday, July 9.
Stay tuned for further updates as they become available.
