TP SELECT UPDATE: Indoor Tryouts and Workouts Continue Next Week

INDOOR SPRING TRAINING CONTINUES ON MARCH 7 FOR MOSQUITO AND PEEWEE PARTICIPANTS; BANTAM TRYOUT RESCHEDULED TO MARCH 9

POSTING UPDATED AT 10:15 P.M. ON FRIDAY, MARCH 4

Indoor spring training tryouts and workouts for our TP Select Teams continue next week  for all interested and registered participants in the Toronto Playgrounds Baseball Program.

The Toronto Playgrounds Baseball Committee has announced that the tryouts and workouts for the 2011 TP Select Teams are scheduled to continue on the evening of Monday, March 7 for eligible participants in our Mosquito and Peewee classifications.

UPDATE: Due to a scheduling conflict at the Bob Abate Centre, the Bantam tryout and workout originally scheduled for March 8 has been rescheduled to  Wednesday, March 9. The TP Baseball Committee wishes to apologize for any inconvenience that may result from this scheduling revision.

Any eligible and interested players who missed the first select tryout and workout sessions this past week are still strongly encouraged to come out next week and join the indoor training sessions. Please come 15 minutes prior to the scheduled tryout and workout time to check in and register.

The indoor tryouts and workouts will be held at the Bob Abate Community and Recreation Centre located at 485 Montrose Avenue (Bloor and Montrose). Here is the schedule:

Monday, March 7

MOSQUITO SELECT TRYOUT/WORKOUT:  7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

PEEWEE SELECT TRYOUT/WORKOUT:  8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Wednesday, March 9 (*revised)

BANTAM SELECT TRYOUT/WORKOUT:  6:45 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

The Toronto Playgrounds Select program is a team which players have to “make”. Any player who is registered in our TP House League program (and not playing rep) is eligible to try out.

Our TP select teams usually play in a select loop during the season, with one game (and at least one practice) each week. These select games and practices will be in addition to house league games and practices.

The TP Baseball Committee wishes to stress that players will ONLY be allowed to participate in the TP Select Program ONLY if they are registered with payment in the TP House League Program and participating regularly with their 2011 house league team. THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS TO THIS RULE.

Please note that there will be additional costs for those players who make the TP select teams, which will be in addition to house league fees.

The TP Baseball Committee is still actively considering the feasibility of fielding a Rookie Ball Select Team. However, the status of this proposal is contingent on parent and player interest.
