TP SELECT: Peewee Selects In Knockout Phase Of West Toronto Select Loop Tournament

WITH A 2-1 RECORD, TORONTO PLAYGROUNDS IS ONE OF FOUR TEAMS LEFT IN THE TOURNAMENT PLAYOFF

TP Peewee Select Head Coach Casey Irwin (19) holds a pre game team meeting.

After Saturday’s games, the Toronto Playgrounds Peewee Select Team is one of four teams still remaining in the West Toronto Select Loop Tournament.

Toronto Playgrounds (2-1) is now in the double knockout phase of the tourney where one more loss will eliminate them from the playoffs. Tournament playoff rules stipulate that a team is dropped from the tournament with two losses.

In their second game of the tournament, the Peewee Selects were edged by Royal York 5-4 in five innings. It was a tough loss because TP was leading Royal York 3-0 after 2 ½ innings.

In the third game, Toronto Playgrounds crushed Rexdale 17-4. The Peewee Select offense exploded and scored fifteen runs in the second inning. MacLeod (5) started the scoring parade in that inning with a long, inside the park home run. Both Mikel (2) and Naiemul (7) pitched masterfully in neutralizing a potent Rexdale batting order.

Toronto Playgrounds journey in the tourney continues at 11:15 a.m. on Sunday morning. Depending on the results, the Peewee Selects could play up to three games tomorrow.
