MOSQUITO > DAY 7: Cubs Claw By Cardinals 6-4


IN THE CLUTCH > Joshua (10) of the Cubs delivered a RBI hit that brought in Jaleelah (8) with the Cubbies winning run over the Cardinals at Christie Pits Diamond 2.

Beneath cool and serene summer skies this evening at Diamond 2, the Cubs clawed by the Cardinals 6-4 in a 4 ½ inning quarter-final game to advance to a Mosquito Division Semi-Final showdown against the Dodgers on Tuesday evening at Christie Pits.

Joshua (10) delivered the clutch game winning RBI hit that allowed Jaleelah (5) to motor home with the Cubbies winning run.

With the victory, the Cubs (3) advance to to play the Lizzies (2) tomorrow (Tuesday, September 11)  evening in a Mosquito Division Semi-Final game at Christie Pits Diamond 3 at 5:45 p.m.

The TP Baseball Committee wishes to commend Cardinals Head Coach Garry Bulloch and all the players on a great season. Way to go, Cardinals!

Here are some additional highlights: 

  • Hayden (15) and Solomon (4) of the Cubs both made great catches on line drives at the hot corner (a.k.a. third base).  
  • Ethan (13) caught a tipped third strike pitch preserving a 1-2-3 inning for Cubs pitcher Max (7).
  • Cubs pitcher Angus (1) only allowed one run in 2 innings pitched. 
  • Max (7) pitched two scoreless innings.
  • Josh (10) had two hits and had the game winning RBI.
  • Jaleelah (5) went 1 for 1 at the dish, scoring the winning run. 
  • Cardinals pitchers Brian (5) and Evan (12) pitched really well.  Brian had 2 walks, and 2 runs scored and stole 4 bases.  
  • Jack (4) of the Cardinals had a single and scored on a three base error scoring all three runs in the third inning
