THE MIGHTY GIANTS QUELLED A FEROCIOUS FINAL INNING RALLY BY THE GO GO LIZZIES TO WIN THE NIGHTCAP AT CHRISTIE PITS DIAMOND 2
Game Report composed with file from Bill Evans
Underneath warm and sticky skies this evening at Christie Pits Diamond 2, the Giants subdued a tenacious rally by the Lizzies to emerge with a 12-9 victory in four sizzling innings of Mosquito Division play.
The Giants had made the most of their offensive opportunities to build a 12-3 lead through 3 ½ innings. Keying the Giants offensive machine were big hits from Alex, Emmit, Michael and Cameron.
However, in the bottom of the fourth, the Lizzies staged a ferocious comeback as they scored six runs to trim the deficit to three. In the end, Giants closer Piper quelled the Go Go Lizzies uprising and sealed the deal and the win.
Here are some additional highlights:
- Lachlan of the Giants made a nice grab at shortstop and Taras of the Giants knocked down a grounder at first base to make an unassisted putout.
- The Giants received some solid pitching efforts from Alex, Emmit, Lachlan, Harris and Piper (who came into the game in the fourth to collect the save).
- Kudos to some great Giants catching efforts from behind the plate from Piper, Alex, Cameron and Grady. Meanwhile, Mark (11) of the Lizzies carried his team behind the dish.
