WITH A FOUR HOME RUN ATTACK, THE SPUDS POWER THEIR WAY TO VICTORY OVER THE GEEZERS AT CHRISTIE PITS
Beneath a sheath of hot temperatures and extreme humidity this morning at Christie Pits Diamond 2, the Couch Potatoes defeated the Old Geezers 9-4 in 4 ½ innings at the Inaugural TP Baseball Dad’s Pick Up Baseball Classic.
The Spuds powered their way to victory over the Geezers with a four home run attack.
Leading the Couch Potatoes offense was Dave with two Ruthian home run shots over the left field fence at Dominico Field . Dave went 3 for 3 at the dish (double, two homers) with three runs scored and 3 RBI’s.
The Spuds also received respective two run home run blasts from Trevor and Brendan that cleared the chain linked fence in left field.
In the top of the first, the Old Geezers jumped out to an early 3-0 lead. Keying the Geezers offensive spurt was a two RBI single from Jonathan and a RBI single by Paul.
The Couch Potatoes answered back with four in bottom of the first to take the lead 4-3. Powering the Spuds offensive machine was a 2 run home run by Dave and a solo shot by Trevor.
With no scoring over the next 1 ½ innings, it wasn’t until the bottom of the third before the Couch Potatoes exploded for four runs to extend their lead to 8-3. The Spuds offense received a solo home run from Dave and a two run homer from Brendan.
The Spuds added an insurance run in the bottom of the fourth to widen their advantage to 9-3. Matt of the Couch Potatoes powered a run scoring double.
Refusing to surrender, the Old Geezers gamely rallied for a run in the top of the fifth to trim the deficit to five. Leading the Geezers comeback effort was a RBI sacrifice hit delivered by Paul.
At this juncture in the proceedings, the game was called on the account that all the father’s who had played in the game needed their respective nap times.
