ORNITHOLOGICAL SHOWDOWN > Clockwise from top left: Orioles starter Simon (14) set the tone for the proceedings with a powerful effort where he allowed only one run while striking out two; Jamie (2) sparked the O’s offense with a walk and a double while stealing three bases and scoring twice. Jamie also closed out the game on the mound with a 2 K effort to seal the deal on the Orioles victory; Angus (1) powered the Jays with a pair of crushing doubles; Beca (6) went 2 for 3 at the dish with a solid pair of singles.

Under the lights on a nice summer evening at Christie Pits Diamond 2, the Orioles topped the Jays 10-6 in a three inning Peewee Division ornithological showdown.

Here are the highlights:

  • Jamie “jRock” (2) of the Orioles pitched a masterful last inning with two K’s and a 1-3 groundout. Jamie also walked and hit a double, stole three bags and scored twice.
  • Lukas “Spitz” (10) of the Orioles had three RBI’s on two singles and three stolen bases.
  • Sasha “the Professor” (5) of the O’s had an “oppo taco” triple in the second.
  • Orioles starter Simon “Cheese” (14) had a 2k pitching performance in the first.
  • Jays starting pitcher Alex (9) threw an effective first inning allowing two runs while striking out three (one K on a passed ball where the runner reached first).
  • Angus (1) of the Jays crushed two doubles in three at-bats.
  • Jays catcher Cam (8) tagged a runner out at home on a play at the plate.  The play started with right fielder Yuki (4) hitting the cut-off man, first baseman Alex, who then relayed a strike to Cam at home.
  • Beca of the Jays went 2 for 3 with two strong singles.
