TORONTO PLAYGROUNDS MINOR PEEWEE TEAM TAKES CARE OF BUSINESS IN WINNING THEIR OPENING ROUND ROBIN GAME AT THE TBA WEST SELECT LOOP PLAYOFFS

TP Minor Peewee Select starter Sasha (28) threw three strong innings against York in their opening round robin game at the TBA West Select Loop Championship Playoffs at Smythe Park to earn the win. Sasha threw nearly 80 pitches in allowing only four runs while striking out six Riverdogs.

Beneath pleasant summer skies this evening at Smythe Park, our TP Minor Peewee Selects defeated the York Riverdogs 6-4 in 3 ½ innings of TBA West Select Loop Championship playoff action.

With the hard fought victory, Toronto Playrounds Minor Peewees have won their opening round robin game at the TBA West Select Loop playoffs.

The Minor Peewees will now play the Martingrove 2 White Sox in their second round robin game tomorrow (Saturday, August 10) morning at Carmen Bush at 11:15 a.m.

Here are the highlights:

  • Weston jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning
  • In the bottom of the second, TP rallied for a run on a RBI single by Brian (25) to trim the deficit to one.
  • The Riverdogs scored two in the top of the third to widen their lead to 4-3.
  • The Minor Peewees stormed back with five runs in the bottom half of the third to take the lead 6-4. Keying the TP offense were Zack (32), Jack (27), Sasha (28) with respective RBI singles. Brian chipped in with a RBI sacrifice hit.
  • TP starting pitcher Sasha (28) threw three strong innings while striking out six Riverdogs to earn the win.
  • With some solid defense behind him, TP closer Zack (32) kept York off the scoreboard in the top of the fourth to seal the deal on the Minor Peewees victory.
