On a beautiful and warm summer afternoon at Carmen Bush, Weston edged our TP Bantam Selects 13-12 in five innings of Toronto Baseball Association (TBA) West Loop Bantam Select playoff tournament action.

Down 12-7, Weston rallied for six runs in the bottom of the fifth to usurp Toronto Playgrounds.

With their second round robin playoff game loss, the Bantam Selects (0-2) have been eliminated from further playoff contention under the double knockout rules that govern the TBA tournament.

It goes without saying that our Bantam Selects have had a rough 2013 campaign where they finished with a 2-9 regular season record. And things didn’t fare any better in the tournaments that they played in Vaughan and Mississauga.

Still, the team persevered through it all for the love of the game.

The TP Baseball Committee wishes to commend Bantam Select Head Coach Casey Irwin, Assistant Coach Michael Gödel and General Manager Kevin Truong for their fortitude and patience in steering the Bantam Selects through the 2013 campaign.

The Committee also wishes to congratulate all the Bantam Select players, coaches and parents for representing the core values of the Toronto Playgrounds Baseball program with honour, dignity and professionalism on and off the diamond throughout the lengthy course of the 2013 season.

Way to go, TP!
