IN A WELL PLAYED SEMI-FINAL, THE ARTFUL DODGERS PREVAIL OVER THE CUBBIES AT CHRISTIE PITS TO ADVANCE TO A MOSQUITO DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP GAME SHOWDOWN AGAINST THE METS

Finley (9) powered the Dodgers offense with a 2 for 2 [double, single] effort while scoring two runs and collecting a pair of RBI’s.

Under cloudy and overcast skies this evening at Christie Pits Diamond 3, the Dodgers defeated the Mets 6-1 in 4 ½innings of Mosquito Division Semi-Final tournament play.

With the victory, the Dodgers advance to a Mosquito Division Championship skirmish against the Mets at Christie Pits Diamond 2 on Thursday, September 12 at 5:45 p.m.

It was a well pitched affair where both teams combined to record nineteen strikeouts. Ultimately, the Dodgers capitalized on the paltry offensive opportunities that arose to prevail over the pesky Cubbies.

Here are the highlights:

  • Alden (9) stole home in the top of the second to give the Cubs a 1-0 lead.
  • The Dodgers answered with three in the bottom of the second to take a 3-1 lead. Finley (9) stroked a key double to power the Artful Dodgers offensive surge.
  • In the bottom of the fourth, the Dodgers scored three insurance runs to salt the game away.
