WITH ONLY 60 DAYS LEFT BEFORE OPENING DAY, HERE’S A DIVISIONAL SYNOPSIS OF WHAT’S ON DECK FOR THE UPCOMING SEASON

Spring is officially here and another wonderful season of Toronto Playgrounds House League Baseball is dawning upon us at Christie Pits and Bickford Park.
With that in the mind, the TP Baseball Committee has released this information primer to bring Parents and Players in our six respective age categories up to speed on what to expect in the coming days, weeks and months as we commence the 2014 season.
Parents and Players are advised that the Regular Season Schedules for our six respective House League age divisions will be posted on the website and emailed to all registrants in May.
Here are the 2014 TP House League Baseball Schedules:
TEE BALL DIVISION (2007-2010)
- There will be three four-team Tee Ball divisions that will play games on either a Tuesday, Thursday and Friday during the regular season.
- Each our twelve teams will play a game once a week during the course of the regular season.
- All Tee Ball games and practices will take place at our Bickford Park North Diamond.
- One four-team division will play on Tuesdays, another four-team division will play on Thursdays, and another four-team division will play on Fridays. There will be a game at 5:30 p.m. and another at 6:30 p.m. on those respective days. Tee Ball roster spots for each of the three available game days will be filled on a first come, first served basis.
- Regular season practices will consist of a 10 minute warm up/practice prior to each game.
- Parents will be contacted during the week of April 22 with the information regarding the name of your Tee Ball team and coach, and the date of your first pre-season Spring Training practice.
- Uniform Distribution will take place in early May at a date and time still to be determined. (Schedule will be posted when finalized.)
- Spring training commences in early May. We are planning on scheduling two or possibly three practices for each team between May 1st and the Victoria Day weekend. (A Tee Ball Spring Training schedule will be posted when it is finalized.)
- Our Tee Ball Division regular season games begin on the following dates: TUESDAY DIVISION > May 20; THURSDAY DIVISION > May 22; FRIDAY DIVISION > May 23
- Photo Day (individual & team) will take place on a Saturday in mid June. (Date, Place and Schedule will be posted when finalized.)
- For the 2014 season, we are considering scheduling some optional practices/clinics in addition to the regular house league practices during the course of the season for any players and parents who would like to take advantage of as many opportunities as possible for skill-building. (Information will be posted when finalized.)
- The Tee Ball regular season ends around the third weekend in August with our Tee Ball Celebration Day events.
ROOKIE BALL DIVISION (2005-2006)
- There will be two four-team Rookie Ball divisions; each of eight Rookie Ball teams will play a game once a week and practice every second week.
- All Games will take place at Christie Pits Diamond # 3.
- One four-team division will play on Mondays and the other four-team division will play on Wednesdays. There will be a game at 5:45 p.m. and another at 7:00 p.m. on those respective game days.
- Parents will be contacted during the week of April 15 with the information regarding the date, time, and location of the Rookie Ball Evaluation Session. We hold these evaluation sessions in order to make the teams as competitively balanced as possible. Players will take part in hitting, fielding, and throwing drills. However, please note that once the season starts and it’s clear that the teams are not balanced, the TP Baseball Committee will move players between teams in order to achieve competitive balance.
- Rookie Ball Player Evaluations will take place on April 26 at Christie Pits Diamonds 2 & 3. (Schedule will be posted when it has been finalized.)
- Parents will be contacted by the middle of the week of April 28 regarding the name of your Rookie Ball team and coach, and the date of your first pre-season practice.
- Uniform Distribution will take place in early May at a date and time still to be determined. (Schedule will be posted when finalized.)
- Spring Training commences in early May. We are planning on scheduling two or possibly three practices for each Rookie Ball team between May 1 and the Victoria Day weekend. (A Pre-season Rookie Ball Spring Training schedule will be posted when it is finalized.)
- Our Rookie Ball Division regular season games begin on the following dates: WEDNESDAY DIVISION > May 21; MONDAY DIVISION > May 26
- Regular Season Rookie Ball Practices will take place at the Bickford Park South diamond on Mondays and Wednesdays between 5:45 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. The four teams that play their games on Mondays will have a practice every two weeks on Wednesdays. And, the four teams that play their games on Wednesdays will have a practice every two weeks on Mondays.
- For the 2014 season, we are considering scheduling some optional practices/clinics in addition to the regular house league practices during the course of the season for any players and parents who would like to take advantage of as many opportunities as possible for skill-building. - Photo Day (individual & team) will take place on a Saturday in mid June. (Date, Place and Schedule will be posted when finalized.)
- The Rookie Ball regular season usually ends around the third weekend in August with our Rookie Ball Celebration Day events.
MOSQUITO DIVISION (2003-2004)
- This will be a six to eight-team division (depending on registration numbers); each team will play a game once a week and practice every second week.
- Games will take place on Thursdays: two games at Christie Pits Diamond #2 (first game at 5:45 p.m. and a second game at 7:45 p.m.); one game at Christie Pits Diamond #3 at 5:45 p.m.; and one game at the Bickford Park South Diamond at 5:45 p.m.
- Parents and Players will be contacted during week of April 15 with the information regarding the date, time, and location of the Mosquito Division Evaluation Session. We hold these evaluation sessions in order to make the teams as competitively balanced as possible. Players will take part in hitting, fielding, and throwing drills. However, please note that once the season starts and it’s clear that the teams are not balanced, the TP Baseball Committee will move players between teams in order to achieve competitive balance.
- Mosquito Division Player Evaluations will take place on April 26 at Christie Pits Diamonds 2 & 3. (Schedule will be posted when finalized.)
- Parents will be contacted by the middle of the week of April 28 regarding the name of your Mosquito Division team and coach, and the date of your first pre-season practice.

- Regular Season Practices will take place at the Bickford Park South diamond on Mondays between 6:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Three teams will practice each week.
- For the 2014 season, we are considering scheduling some optional practices/clinics in addition to the regular house league practices during the course of the season for any players and parents who would like to take advantage of as many opportunities as possible for skill-building. PEEWEE DIVISION (2001-2002)

BANTAM (1999-2000) and MIDGET DIVISIONS (1996-1998)
- These will both be two to four-team divisions (depending upon player registration numbers), with two double-headers each week.
- There will always be a double-header on Mondays (Bantam 6:00 pm and Midget 8:00 pm), and as many weeks as possible the second double-header will be on Wednesdays (Bantam 6:00 pm and Midget 8:00 pm). However, there will be some weeks that the second double-header will be on Saturday (Bantam 11:00 am and Midget 1:00 pm). All of the specific game dates and times will be indicated on the schedule that will be distributed by mid-May.
- Player evaluations will take place at a time still to be determined in late April.
- Uniform Distribution will take place in early May at a date and time still to be determined. (Schedule will be posted when finalized.)
- Spring training will commence at a date and time still to be determined in May
- Bantam and Midget regular season practice times will be announced closer to the start of the season.
