The Toronto Playgrounds Baseball Committee is continuing to accept registrations for the upcoming 2014 House League Baseball Season.

However, with only 38 days left before Opening Day, a number of our available age categories are beginning to fill up as we fast approach the beginning of the season.

As of April 12, all available roster openings have been filled in our respective “Tuesday”, “Thursday” and “Friday” Tee Ball Divisions; “Wednesday” Rookie Ball Division; and Mosquito Division. Any additional applications for these for these age divisions will be placed on a sequential waiting list in the event a roster opening becomes available.

Due to the overwhelming popularity of our respective house league baseball offerings, the Committee strongly urges all interested parents and players to register early to guarantee a placement in our program.

ALL roster spots in our six age groups will be filled on a first come, first serve basis. Once all the available roster openings have been filled in a designated age category, any additional registrants will be put on a sequential waiting list in the event an opening becomes available.

In addition. the Committee is currently finalizing a relationship with the Canadian Tire Jumpstart, which is a program that provides financial support to families so that their children can participate in organized sports activities. Please click on the following link for more information about the JUMPSTART initiative.

There is also a change to this year’s form regarding registering in our Tee Ball and Rookie Ball Programs.

Last year after sending out the registration forms we set up two four team divisions in rookie ball, with one division playing on Mondays (and practicing every second Wednesday) and the other division playing on Wednesdays (and practicing every second Monday). We’re going to have the two divisions again this year, but we’re asking parents to indicate on the form which of the divisions they prefer. If you have a strong preference for one night but could also play the other night please rank them as 1 and 2. If you can only play one of the two nights rank that one as 1 and put an X in the other spot. If either night will work equally well for you (and it will be great to have some people in that position), please put a check mark on both days.

This year we are planning on doing the same type of arrangement in our Tee Ball program, except that there will be three four-team divisions…one playing Tuesday, one on Thursday, and one on Friday. This way Tee Ball families can also have a standard game night as is the case in our other divisions. We’re asking parents to indicate on the form which of the divisions they prefer. If you have a strong preference for one night but could also play the other nights please rank them as 1, 2 and 3. If you can only play one of the two nights rank that one as 1 and put an X in the other spots. If any of the nights will work equally well for you (and it will be great to have some people in that position), please put a check mark on all three days.

In both the Tee Ball and Rookie Ball divisions the spaces in the divisions will be assigned on a first-come first-served basis. There are obviously only a certain number of spots available in each division.

When making payment, PLEASE MAKE CHEQUES PAYABLE TO “LIZZIES BASEBALL“.

Completed registration forms with payment (either cheque or cash) can be dropped off in our secure TP Baseball Mailbox located at the Bob Abate Community and Recreation Centre (485 Montrose Avenue).
