Under a canopy of beautiful blue skies, the Royal York (1) Cardinals edged our Toronto Playgrounds Mosquito Selects 7-6 in a thrilling 6 ½ innings of Etobicoke Baseball Association (EBA) Select action at Rotary Park this evening.

Two errors by the Mosquito Selects allowed Royal York to cash in four runs early in the game resulting in TP trailing 5-0 after the first inning.

Despite digging themselves into an early hole, Toronto Playgrounds fought back with determination and relentless tenacity.

With a stellar Mosquito Select bullpen holding the Cardinals scoreless for four innings, it gave TP the opportunity to fight back and close the gap.

Trailing 7-3 in the top of the seventh, TP battled back for three runs to shrink the deficit to one. With the tying run standing sixty-five feet away at third, TP’s amazing comeback just fell short.

Our Mosquito Selects (1-2) return to the friendly confines of Christie Pits Diamond 2 to play their next game on Sunday, June 1 against the York Riverdogs at 6:00 p.m.
